LAURA HELLER

Owner

My name is Laura Heller owner and founder of Summit Paws. I have lived in the Stroudsburg area my entire life and I am proud to serve my home town and the surrounding areas.

I have been working with dogs for about 15 years including volunteering at local shelters, dog sitting, dog walking, and dog training. I started my career with dog training when I rescued my dog Roscoe in 2013. He was a giant (100+ lb) bully breed, who had been abandoned out on the streets of East Stroudsburg in the middle of winter. With Roscoe being the breed he was, it lit a fire within me to educate myself on proper handling and training to become an advocate and help educate people on the breed and on how to understand dogs as a whole.

Within my ten year career as a dog trainer, I have helped numerous homeless dogs become adoptable family dogs, I have helped owners with dogs who have reactivity issues, I have helped shape and build confident and social puppies. I have helped many owners understand their dog, and give them the opportunity to build an amazing relationship with their dog. My main goal is always to help owners better understand their dog, and help dog and owner build a beautiful, meaningful relationship.

I am a dog lover before I am a trainer. I believe that there are no bad dogs, only untrained or misunderstood ones. I help open the communication between dogs and their owners for a greater bond for both. I specialize in helping any dog that has anxious, reactive, or aggressive behavior. I strongly believe in the benefit of Behavior Modification. My passion is to inspire my clients to look forward to and love training their dogs!
